I have been invited by Boryana Rossa to give a guest lecutre in her Advanced Video class at Syracuse University - College of Visual & Performing Arts - Department of Transmedia on the morning of April 15th.
April 16th - I will be performing my work AVATAR as part of 'Performing MEdia' At Spark Contemporary Art Space - 1005 East Fayette St. Syracuse. Live performances visiting artists: Freya Olafson & Jennifer Chan Performances by students: Peter Lee - Kati Rehbeck - Chamberlain ‘Performing MEdia’ includes live performances focusing on how interactions between body and technology can be used to explore presentations of self through/ in media. Each day new tech devices, apps and media-worlds give us new opportunities to make and communicate images of ourselves . How are we doing this? How do new modes of private and social communication determined by technology shape our behavior and understandings of each other? How is our everyday performance shaped to fit contemporary media trends? Curated by Endam Nihan and Boryana Rossa SPARK PERFORMANCE is a platform for performance art; series of events presenting performances and lectures related to performance art, its social and political impact, aesthetics and techniques. This platform is meant to create a space where students and professional artists meet and show together, exchange ideas and critical thoughts and create collaborations. It will happen every three months at SPARK Contemporary Art Space. Works will be invited or selected via open calls.
