Oregon Story Board, Eyebeam and Upfor Gallery are collaborating on a pilot residency to familiarize artists with augmented reality and virtual reality platforms. Residencies last 10 days and take place in Portland, Oregon. Two separate residency sessions will offered in November and December, 2016. Residents are not required to produce artwork during or after the residency. In January 2017, residents are invited to participate (in person or by Skype) in a discussion of their experiences.

The residency’s mission is to contribute to a diversity of perspectives and critical thinking on the effect of augmented- and virtual reality developments on artistic production. The residency will provide selected artists a short but intense period of research and experimentation with training and support from expert volunteers. The residency consists of access to resources; living space is available for a limited number of residents thanks to the generosity ofRainmaker Residency.
